Vhembe Camp Changes

Mapungubwe National Park has discontinued the Vhembe Wilderness Trail. In its place the four Wilderness Cabin units at the Vhembe Wilderness Camp are now available for individual accommodation reservations. Bookings can be made from any Reservations office.

The cabins provide two single beds each with an en-suite bathroom (WC and shower). The camp runs on solar-generated electricity and no plug points are available in the units.

The four units share a central, fully equipped communal kitchen and lapa. Bookings for the Vhembe Wilderness Camp include daily guided morning walks (guests taken to specific areas depending on length of stay – could include walks to rock art sites, the Mapungubwe heritage site, dinosaur footprints, the biggest baobab as well as specialised walks, for example for bird viewing) and night drives for the duration of guests’ stays.

The units are priced as follows:

Effective until 31/10/2007: R1590.00 (2 guests) per night.
Effective 01/11/2007 to 31/10/2008: R1685.00 (2 guests) per night.

Meals can be arranged as an optional extra at the following rates:

Effective until 31/10/2007: R190.00 per person per night.
Effective 01/11/2007 to 31/10/2008: R200.00 per person per night.

Meals include breakfast, lunch, dinner, soft drinks, bottled water and snacks.

Guests to Vhembe Wilderness Camp check in at the Mapungubwe Main Gate.
