Research Procedures

The Cape Research Centre (CRC) administers and coordinates research for the Agulhas, Bontebok, Table Mountain, Tanqua Karoo, Namaqua and West Coast National Parks.

The procedure to follow when applying for a research permit for these parks is outlined in the Guideline Document. Research applications are reviewed five times per year. Deadlines for submission of applications to be processed in 2012 are as follows:

  • 11 January 2012
  • 05 March 2012
  • 04 June 2012
  • 03 September 2012
  • 05 November 2012

Applicants will be asked to complete and sign a research agreement and indemnity form upon approval of the research application at the Research Committee Meeting. Upon receipt of the signed documents, the Science Liaison Officer will issue the researcher with a research permit.

Researchers can expect to have the process finalised with the research permits issued within 4-6 weeks following the relevant submission deadline. Should there be a request from the Research Committee to the applicant to provide further detail or clarity on points in the application, the process may take longer to finalize.

Please refer to the attached Guideline document for further information.
